The Role We are seeking an experienced and proactive Financial Controller to take ownership of our finance function. This is a hands-on role that blends strategic oversight with operational delivery, working closely with multiple stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting, robust controls, and insightful analysis.
You will be a key player in managing the challenges and opportunities of a seasonal trading cycle – ensuring cash flow, forecasting, and financial planning adapt seamlessly to our operational peaks and quieter planning phases.
Key Responsibilities
· Work closely with colleagues and stakeholders to deliver a high-quality finance service.
· Take ownership of financial processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
· Responsibility for monitoring and managing day to day cash flow requirements.
· Prepare and review financial data, highlighting any issues or variances.
· Carry out reconciliations and ensure robust, accurate reporting.
· Ensure compliance and assurance across all financial operations.
· Lead annual budget setting and in-season reforecasting for all 3 businesses.
· Drive improvements in financial reporting and analysis.
· Provide clear financial information to support operational and strategic decision-making.
· Maintain good working relationships with auditors, HMRC, and other external contacts.
· Potential for line management responsibilities as the team grows.
Essential Criteria
· Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with authority to manage relationships at all levels.
· Experience of working in a multi-stakeholder environment, balancing competing demands.
· Proven track record of delivering high-quality financial analysis and advice on complex business issues.
· Demonstrable experience in taking ownership of workstreams and improving financial processes.
· Positive approach to change, with a commitment to supporting organisational strategy.
About You
· Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or QBE with significant relevant experience.
· Strong financial management skills, ideally within events, hospitality, tourism, or another seasonal/fast-paced sector.
· Experience in cash flow management and forecasting with variable income streams.
· Hands-on, flexible, and comfortable working in both busy operational periods and quieter off-season planning phases.
· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
· Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with accounting systems.
· Commercially minded with a keen eye for process improvement.
